The track was built to help promote build community involvement, & family-friendly fun for everyone. The MKA wants to help bring the track back to this focus. For kart racing and other community-based activities.
Mississippi Karters Association, Inc is a Not For Profit organization, operating solely on proceeds from member fees, donations, sponsorships, and class entry fees.
Racers are family. Racing is the DNA that binds together lifelong friendships and brings families together in a sport all ages and abilities can enjoy. Our MKA members are active together on the track and off. Racers help each other and help new racers and race families come up to speed as competitors.
Kart racing teaches many life skills. responsibilty, mechanical skills, sportsmanship, integrity and teamwork.
Karting also spurs the interests of future Engineers, Pilots, Managers and Business Owners and of course cultivates the dreams of larger motorsports career fields.
Our track is known as Springridge Raceway, built in the early 1970s. Since then much has change in karting. However, the Springridge Raceway hasn't kept up with the times.
The track is in need of upgrading and major improvements. Starting with resurfacing and fencing the entire facility. Several safety measures need to be implemented. Safety impact barrier (see photo above), soft zones and curbing are a few of the enhanced safety needed. The addition of an integrated observation deck/flag stand and scoring tower.
At this time the MKA attracts racers from as many as 7 different states! our social media averages 30,000 hits/views in 28 days. Our club membership has grown drastically in the past 4 months.
We need your help to keep growing!
Help us make the Sprngridge Raceway a place for everyone!
Our future usage plans include, Drive-In Movie nights, Food Truck Frenzy Days, Cruise In's, Boy Scout Camp-Out.
The Mississippi Karters Association is a community focused facility. (we just happen to really love racing)
The MKA has applied for a Grant for part of the repaving efforts. However in order to continue to support our current racers and attract new racers to our region we need several other upgrades and improvements. below are just a few major items we need funding to supply.
1) New security fencing $120,000.00 (paid)
2) 18x32 scoring/flag and observation deck
3) Scales and Scale house. $4500.00
3) storage container $Xxxxx. We got one donated!!!
4) gravel in the pits (asphalt would be even better but not a must-have)
5) impact barriers. $5000 -7000 (we need a sponsor)
6) 2 small aluminum bleacher units
Mississippi Karters Association is a Not for Profit organization, governed by its members and member elected officials.
Our race program includes racing classes for ages 4 years old and up through adults. Springridge Raceway was built in the early 1970s by the Speed family for Lake Speed to train before his 1978 FIA Karting World Championship run in Le Mans, France. Where he would earn the title of World Champion, the first-ever American to do so and defeating future F1 legend Ayrton Senna. The MKA seeks to continue to produce champions on and off the track!
